Board of Health continues Adams Street septic variance hearing to March 31

Board of Health · Meeting of March 10, 2026

HOLLISTON — Board of Health continues septic variance hearing for Adams Street resident. Leanne Richards of 762 Adams Street requested a variance to state Title 5 guidance requiring her principal residence septic system to meet new construction standards, saying she was not informed of the requirement before committing $30,000 in construction costs on a garage-to-accessory dwelling unit conversion. Chairperson Peter Liffiton, Vice-Chairperson Brian Simons, and Clerk Jay Leary expressed sympathy but determined they lacked authority to grant the variance; the hearing was continued to March 31 at 7:15 p.m.

The Board also approved three Form A applications and five septic system plans. Vice-Chairperson Simons announced he is not seeking re-election.
