Committee approves new member, reviews department spring plans

Holliston Youth and Family Services Advisory Committee approves new member and outlines spring initiatives. The committee unanimously voted to add Sarah Baroud as a member. Director Jackie Winer reported the department is supporting 36 individuals in short-term counseling with rising clinical and service navigation caseloads; the Community Action Fund dispersed approximately $700 in March for utilities and housing support.
The committee will launch May Mental Health Awareness Month programming including a "Miles for Minds" 5K on May 2 to benefit Ben Speaks, an organization supporting families who have lost children to suicide. HDAAC will award two $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors affected by substance misuse pursuing medical, criminal justice, or first responder careers.
