HOLLISTON — Historical Commission clears demolition of 1930 bungalow at 57 Lakeshore Drive. Owner Brianna Quinn plans to rebuild on existing foundations, expanding the cottage from 750 square feet to 1,468 square feet by adding a half-story and addressing structural damage including roof rot, attic fire damage, and mold. Chair Sara Zarrelli led the review, which included research by member Joanne Hulbert showing the bungalow is one of many similar summer homes built along Lake Winthrop by Russian and Polish Jewish immigrants between 1900 and 1930.
The Commission voted unanimously that the structure lacks architectural uniqueness and no individuals or events of significance to Holliston history are associated with it, approving demolition under the town's Demolition Delay By-law.
