Holliston Opens School Committee Seat Applications; Habitat for Humanity Seeks Affordable-Home Candidates

The town is actively recruiting a resident to fill a vacant School Committee seat, and Habitat for Humanity has opened applications for an affordable home in Holliston, two civic opportunities landing simultaneously as the school district heads into a stretch of year-end celebrations.

TOWN HALL

Applications are now open for a seat on the Holliston School Committee, according to the town's website. The posting appears alongside a separate notice that Habitat for Humanity is accepting applications for an affordable home in town, a relatively rare housing opportunity for income-qualifying Holliston families. The town is also looking for volunteers for the Policy Advisory Committee, which supports town governance work; interested residents can find details at townofholliston.us.

SCHOOLS

Holliston Public Schools has a three-event sprint coming up next week. Grade 2 and Montessori students hold their Field Day on Monday, June 16, from 8:30 to 10 a.m., with June 17 posted as the rain date. That same Wednesday, the Integrated Preschool Concert and Art Show runs as an all-day event. On Thursday, June 18, eighth graders mark the milestone with an 8th Grade Celebration from 6 to 8 p.m.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

Holliston Public Library will be closed Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth, with regular hours in place the rest of that week. Digital collections, including Libby for e-books and audiobooks, Kanopy for streaming film, and Hoopla for a mix of digital formats, remain available around the clock regardless of building hours.
