PAC charts Town Meeting pivot, confronts sustainability crisis as membership collapses

Policy Advisory Committee · Meeting of May 5, 2026

HOLLISTON — Policy Advisory Committee redirects May 11 Town Meeting presentation toward recruitment. With three members--Robert Principe, Kate Cunningham, and Amanda LaCroix--declining reappointment when their terms expire June 30, only Mariah Cajuste, Pooja Pal, and Jess Ommen will remain, leaving the committee one member shy of the four-seat quorum required to vote on official business. Members raised a structural crisis: the committee's untrained, unpaid volunteer model is inadequate for the scope of diversity, equity, and inclusion work mandated by the town's strategic plan.

The chair will convene the Town Manager to explore hiring a dedicated staff member or consultant.
