The board voted 5-0 to deny a special permit and site plan review for an asphalt equipment storage operation at 1700 Washington Street, finding significant adverse environmental and neighborhood impacts. The site sits over 75 percent within wetlands, directly abuts the Upper Charles Trail, and is adjacent to a 66-unit over-55 residential complex.
The board cited concerns over projected noise, dust, and fumes, inadequate storage and operational protocols, and risks of heavy-metal leachate into surrounding soils and water.
