Holliston Town Meeting Opens May 11 With $2.5 Million High School Study on Ballot

Holliston's Annual Town Meeting convenes May 11 with a $2.5 million high school feasibility study leading a 30-article warrant. Town Manager Frank Gervasio, appearing on the public-access program "Just Thinking" with host John Cronin, said Holliston was accepted into the Massachusetts School Building Authority's construction process in December 2025 after roughly seven years of applications, and that the feasibility study timeline of 12 to 18 months puts a final report in late 2027 or early 2028, with a debt-exclusion vote likely no earlier than 2028 or 2029. A DPW facility article was pulled from the warrant after late-breaking developments at the Cross Street property, a former chemical processing plant in Land Court for 25 years, though a companion ballot question could not be withdrawn in time and Gervasio said it will be "meaningless." The FY27 budget rises 3.7 percent overall, with school spending up roughly $1.5 million and town departments up $824,000, partly due to the first financial year of regional dispatch costs at $161,000.
The Community Preservation Committee is seeking $650,000 for a Woodland Street bike park and $260,000 for high school athletic field upgrades, and a $41,996 vendor agreement with HCAT to fund local public-access broadcasting is also on the docket.
