Select Board · Meeting of August 24, 2026
Holliston's Select Board welcomed new Planning and Community Development Director Sarah Scott and debated a bylaw forcing regular master plan updates. Member Benjamin Sparrell pushed the proposal, modeled on a 1996 Dedham bylaw, saying "we're very good at saying no, and we need to get better at saying yes," but Chair Damon Dimmick said he wanted Scott to rebuild Planning Board support before advancing it; no vote was taken. The board voted 3-0 to authorize Town Manager Frank Gervasio to sign a roughly $2,500 intermunicipal agreement renewing the WinWaste/Wheelabrator trash contract.
It denied a resident's request to fly Brazil's flag in Blair Square, citing a state law fine, and reviewed Assistant Town Manager Cheryl Houle's proposal to switch vacation accrual and add a third personal day. Resident Dr. Liz Theiler said "we have water that's laced with PFAS" and criticized the town's 2031 compliance timeline.
