School Committee · Meeting of June 2, 2026

Holliston's School Committee voted 5-0 to recommend Dan Alford as its sole nominee for a one-year appointed seat, over Select Board objections. Chair Sarah Fitzgerald moved to forward only Alford after hearing statements from six candidates, including retiring principal David Kime and structural engineer Alison Lima, who warned "that's not fair to the rest of us" after noting five sitting members had endorsed Alford's unsuccessful spring re-election bid. Select Board member Ben Sparrow said he was "opposed to presenting him as our only candidate," while member Jess Ommen relayed resident concerns about feeling "intimidated" by one candidate.

Fitzgerald noted Alford lost his seat narrowly, with 520 of 1,042 votes, or 49.9 percent. The joint Select Board and School Committee vote on the appointment is set for June 8.
